could somebody help me with my summer reading??

my summer reading was “of mice and men”.

the first question asks me to describe a quote that i have no clue what it means

“the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”

im supposed to explain the meaning and how it applais to lennie and george

This is a quote taken from the Scottish poet Robert Burns’ To A Mouse. In other words what a man devises and plans – thinking he’s taken care of all contingencies – often turns out wrong or goes in a way that he doesn’t expect. I’m not going to explain anything in reference to Lennie and George, because you should do that yourself. Ask yourself what it is that Lennie and George planned and worked for and how did it turn out differently than they hoped…
