‘Either he goes or she goes” works for this. Compound sentences are just two independent clauses (complete sentences) put together using conjunctions or punctuation. Other examples include:

They can have their cake and they can eat it too.

Bob bought the book and Sharon sold the shaving cream.

If you need to use “yet” and “for”, you can use sentences like:

I wanted the blueberries yet I couldn’t resist buying the mangoes.

I avoided the highway for I heard there had been an accident.

And so on. I hope this helps! Remember, just use conjunctions (and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet) or punctuation (like a semicolon [ ; ]). They can get more complicated with correlative conjunctions (not only/but also, either/or, neither/nor) but the basic idea is to combine two independent clauses into one sentence.
