What does the teacher enjoy talking about during lectures? Write about something that the reader wants to read. What class is this assignment to be written? Male or female?Compare & contrast woman 100 years ago & today. We have more rights, sexually liberated, have attained the status of any career choices, healthier, etc…..Write about what you know. What’s your major? Don’t just start writing the paper. Brainstorm the items that are the same & vice-versa. Realize there should be a statement & conclusion…If I was going to write a paper about women…I start with “Women” we are all the same but started out differently..let me take you on a tour of the past 100 years….blah, blah…I’d end it with It’s now the 21st century & I’m proud to be a woman & enjoy the freedom that the past generations have fought for me to be the best that I can be & to pass the torch to the generations to follow….Enjoy your journey & I hope this helped!

Pick something you’re interested in, that way it’ll feel less like work and more like fun. Try comparing and contrasting different types of music (i.e. rap and country, or classical and folk, ect.) Or something from pop culture like comparing/contrasting Paris to Lindsey?! Haha!

Here are a couple more ideas I found online:

1. Compare and Contrast the way and times in which you were raised to that of children today. Do you think that your parent’s were more strict or concerned than today’s parents? Do you think that kids today expect too much? Provide specific examples as to how kids today are being raised similar and different than you.

2. Today’s television has been under fire in the past few years as it becomes more violent, graphic, and, as some would argue, obscene. For this essay, compare and contrast the television shows that you grew up with verses the television shows that children and teenagers watch today. Some items that you may wish to explore include music videos, talk shows, reality shows, cartoons, and other “children’s” shows.

if you have a favourite novel you can compare/contrast characters or symbols in the story.

If you’re into poems, you can compare and contrast two different poems.

In Grade 11 my instructor walked us through writing a compare/contrast essay so now it’s REALLY easy for me to do.

I would recommend you first write 2-3 paragraphs on your first thing (say it was Mary Had a Little Lamb), focusing on one main point in each paragraph. These paragraphs should ONLY be about your source.

Next, write the same number of paragraphs for your second thing (say it was Little Bo Peep) but this time focus on the item AND comparing/contrasting it to the information you put in the original paragraph. This set of paragraphs should be about 60-80% on the second source (Bo Peep) and 20-240% on the first source (Mary).

Then, you’re going to rearrange things so you have a Mary paragraph on topic A followed by a Bo Peep paragraph on topic A, and then topic B and topic B, etc.

you can compare/contrast almost anything. You and your family, you and your friends, food, music, movies, etc.
