To simplify your answer you must get rid of i in the denominator. First multiply the numerator and denominator by 2 – i. This will give you:

3 – 2i ( 2 + i ) ( 6 – 3i – 4i + 2i^2)

——- * ——- ———————-

2 + i ( 2 + i ) ( 4 – i^2)

Simplify the numerator and denominator and you get

6 – 7i – 2 (4 – 7i)

———– = ——-

4 + 1 ( 5)

4 – 7i

——-

5

Dividing 3-2i by 2+i, you will get:

-2 + [1 / (i+2)] ; slash is a fraction bar.

In words, negative 2 plus the quantity of 1 over i plus 2.
