1 km = 1000 m

1 m = 100 cm

which means:

1 km = 100,000 cm

So, divide 100,000 cm (1km) by 2.132 cm (the diameter of a penny), which will give you the number of pennies (46,904) you would need to stretch 1km.

you have to convert from cm to km. to do this:

2.132 cm X 10mm/1cm X 1 m/ 1000mm X 1 km/ 1000m =

all units will cancel out except the km.

answer: .000021 km or 2.1 X 10 ^ -5
