Check my answer please (Math)?

If a pro basketball player has a vertical leap of about 25 inches, what is his hang time? Use the hang-time function V = 48 T^2

Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

The answer I got was 173.21 seconds

173.21 seconds would equal 2.886 minutes.

There’s no basketball player on earth

who can remain in the air for that long…

We’re looking for a hang time about one second, right?

(Try jumping about 2 feet high and time yourself).

V = 48T^2 or 48T^2 = V

48T^2 = 25

T^2 = 25 / 48

T^2 = 0.520833

sqrt(T^2) = sqrt(.520833)

T = 0.721688 seconds or about 3/4 of a second.

* Always check your work *

25 = 48 * (0.721688)^2 ?

25 = 48 * (0.520833) ?

25 = 25 <-- Checks! Good luck in your studies, ~ Mitch ~
