Can you please help me with my son’s math homework?

Mrs. Donaldson plays Bingo on 2 different nights. She wins a total of 25 games for the 2 nights. On the second night she wins 7 more games then she did the first night. How many games did she win each night?

Nights A and B.

A + B = 25

A + 7 = B

Now, sub in A+7 for B in the first equation.

A + (A + 7) = 25

Solve for A. 2A +7 = 25

2A +7 -7 = 25 -7

2A = 18

2a /2 = 18 /2 (/ means divided by)

A = 9

Now plug that back into the equation.

9 + B = 25

B = 16

Is 16 seven more than 9? Ok, you’ve got it.

subtract 7 from 25 to get 18, because she won 7 more games on the 2nd night. Divide 18 in half to find out how many games she won the first night. So, she won 9 games the first night and 16 games the 2nd. Hope that helps. Remember that in word problems you just have to anaylze that final sentence to decide what the question is asking and filter out anything that isn’t necessary to finding the answer. Good luck!

Ok, it would be 9 the first day, then 9+7=16 on the second. 9+16=25. There’s your answer.
