It means that to be successful all that is necessary is to be exceptionally good at just one very ordinary thing. Consider very successful authors. Most of us can write, some of us better than others, but Stephen King and J. K. Rowling seem to be able to do that ordinary thing uncommonly well.

I guess you can say that success is putting effort into your work, even if your work is boring or tedious. ex: making sure your not only done, but neat and on time too. doing extra credit assignments. or look at Mother Teresa, she helped the poor just like any people, but she’s different because she’d also lived with them and took care with them (in quite poor conditions too).
