obviously a and b are not correct because they are both less than 40, but you number should be a factor of both 7 (because 2/7 of them is an integer!) the only number among 42, 57 and 64 which is a factor of 7 is 42, so (c) is the correct choice.

Not a) and b), because it have to more than 40 students

And then, let total number of students as X

(2/7)X on the bus, so (5/7)X are out of the bus

In that (5/7)X students, there are (1/3) are in stores

so there are (5/21)X students are in stores

so the answer should be c

because just 42/21 = 2

the others are no the whole number

Are you sure u wrote the question right? How can it ask how many students are on the trip if the first line says there are more than 40 students on a trip. If its right, then its not a or b. Good luck!

This is what I call an “eyeball it” question.

You can eliminate a) because it is less than 40

You also have to have an answer that is divisible by 7 because of the (2/7) number.

The only one that does that is c)42
