The formula is 2.00x + 2.50 = 17.50 with x being the x amount of miles and $2.50 being the constant and $2.00 being the rate.

So, the solution would be…

$2.00x = $15.00

x =7 1/2 miles

First 17.50 – 2.50= $15 / 2= 7.5 miles.

You have 17.50 to start with and then you subtract 2.50 for the charge leaving you with $15. Each mile is $2 so just divide 15 by 2 and that 7 1/2. That means Palph can travel 7.5 miles.

first, subtract the charge of $2.5 as it is considered a surcharge.

$17.50-2.50=15.00

then, take $15 and divide it by $2 so as to get the distance palph can travel.

$15/2=7.5

therefore, Palph can travel for 7.5 miles

Basically, subtract 2.50 from 17.50 to get 15.00, then divide by 2.00, so you’ll get 7.5.

If you want to do it as an equation, make m (or any variable) the number of miles. Since it’s 2.00 times the number of miles, it’s 2.00m, and it has a base of 2.50, so add 2.50. It equals 17.50, the amount of money he has.

So:

2.00x + 2.50 = 17.50 Subtract 2.50 from both sides

2.00x = 15.00 Divide both sides by 2.00

x = 7.5 7.5 miles

17.50 – 2.50 = 15.00

$15 divided by $2 = 7.5

So I would say 7.5 Miles

divide 17.50 total cost of travel by 4.50 the cost to travel each mile off peak.

l71/2 divide by 4 1/2 = 3.333 miles traveled

17.50-2.50 = 15.00

15.00/2.00=7.5

7 miles

Anything over 7 miles costs another 2 dollars, which he doesn’t have
