As individuals, we are better off if we conduct our lives so as not to attract the bullies … let them go after someone else.

And while they are doing so, we witnesses call 911 so the police can take them into custody. In school, this is sometimes the Principal’s Office, or campus security.

Example … someone tries to steal your car … they can’t get the door open, then there is an alarm … they can’t bust the igniton … there’s just a whole series of trouble you have left to trap the car theif … the odds are they will move on to someone else car that is easier to steal & leave yours alone.

Laptops come with wireless ports open … you need to change yours so it is off when you not using it.

There are parking lots and garages where the only cars that got broke into, were those with laptops in trunk with wireless port opne, basically saying “Steal me, zero in on the radio and locate exactly where I am.” Not everyone in the parking area with a laptop got stolen, only those with the wireless ports left open when the owner was not using the laptop.

There’s lots of things we can do in our lives that basically are like wearing a sign “beat me up, rob me” and there’s things we can do, so that the troublemakers basically leave us alone. Everyone growing up needs to learn what these differences are, and practice safe practices, so as not to attract the interest of bullies, muggers, rapists, etc. to have a low probability of becoming a victim.

It is a multi-disciplinary topic.

In my belief, there should be a class on this in both secondary school, and at the college level, or have it as part of a larger class, like First Aid, Computer Security, Driver’s Ed.

This is because many young people exit school and they are clueless about this, and some don’t live to exit school because they are clueless about this kind of thing.
