Can someone please help me solve this equation?

x^2 + x – 6 = 0
Now you can factor this. You are looking for two numbers that multiply to give you -6 and add to give you +1(the cooefficient of x). Do you see that would be +3 and -2? Here are the factors:
(x +3)(x – 2) = 0
The “zero product rule” says that when two factors multiply to equal zero, one of them must be zero. So we set each factor to zero:
x + 3 = 0 or x – 2 = 0
and solve by subtracting the 3 from both sides of the first equation and adding the 2 to both sides of the second equation:
x = -3 or x = 2
that’s it!
x^2 + x – 6 = 0
Now it can be solved by a number of different methods, take your pick, (factoring, quadratic equation, wild guessing, etc) I’ll let you take it from here.
Good luck.
0=-x² -x +6
0= x² +x -6
0= (x -2)(x+3)
X=2, or X=-3
x^2+x-6=0
factor
(x+3)(x-2)=0
x=2,-3
x^2=4
6-2=4
just use guess and check…. 2 squared is 4 which means 2 is x……….. then you need 6 minus 2 which is 4 and that would make your eaquation is true….
you get 2x squared equals 6
then the answer would be 2.
1x=5x
i am not sure!!
