can someone tell me why 660,000,000 and 229,000,000 becomes 288.2%? I’m confused…

what would be the percentage of 41,344,000 and 2,571,000? i would greatly appreciate the help…

I think you’re missing part of the question amd reversing your numbers. If you’re doing percents, then you are trying to find what % of one number the other number is. for example: What % of 660,000,000 is 229,000,000?

660,000,000x= 229,000,000

Get x alone on one side of the equation by dividing both sides by the 660 number. 229,000,000/660,000,000 = 34.7% (comes up at .3469, but you have to move the decimal two places to the right)

For the next problem, it’s probably “What % of 41,344,000 is 2,571,000” So the mystery number (x) goes next to the 41 number:

41,344,000x = 2,571,000

Now divide both sides by the 41 million number, move your decimal to the right two places and there’s your answer.

I’m sure this is probably MORE confusing than helpful, but you never know!

take 660,000,000/229,000,000 as you can see there are many place holding zeros which we can eliminate to leave

660/229 which equals 2.88209607. Now there are only three significant figures in the original numbers, so we can only use three significant figures in the answer which would be 2.88

Now to find the percentage take 2.88 * 100 which equals %288

Same trick with your second question, figure it out, post the answer you get and I’ll check it.
