Can someone help me translate this please?
someone please translate this for me, its old english. ” Many a mead-hall Scyld, son of the founder of the danish line of kings, Snatched from the forces of savage foes.

Mead is beer
Scyld is the name of the king
There rest is just plain English. That’s NOT old English at all so it can’t be “translated.”
The old English would have looked like this …
HWÆT, WE GAR-DEna in geardagum,
þeodcyninga þrym gefrunon,
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon!
oft Scyld Scefing sceaþena þreatum,
monegum mægþum meodosetla ofteah,
egsode eorlas, syððanærest wearð

Pesonally, I don’t know how to translate it. However, I did look online for some possible translations and couldn’t find anything. I did find a Wikipedia article on Old English. You can see if that would help.
Where did this phrase come from? Is it from Beowulf, or Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales”? Those are the only two stories that I remember that were written in Old English.
