The simpson’s paradox is that Homer wants to drink a bear eat a donut and change the channel all at the same time but he only has two hands and one mouth…. what does he do?

The real life situation is that your dad is in Homer’s position…

I have no idea really

Hope this answer is at least good for half a smile though…

Good luck

Let’s say person A completes 50% of the questions in his homework given to him on Monday and person B 40%. On Tuesday person A does 30% of the questions given to him on that day (he ignores the undone questions from the previous day) while person B does 20% of questions given to him (like person A, he ignores those questions he didn’t do on Monday).

The Simpson’s paradox occurs when the percentage of questions done by person B is GREATER than that of person A although on both days person A completes a greater percentage of his homework.

How?

On Monday person A gets 10 questions and he does 5.

Person B gets 100 and he does 40.

On Tuesday person A gets 100 questions and he does 30.

Person B gets 10 and he does 2.

So, combining the number of questions did on both days (both of them gets 110 questions), Person A completes 35 questions while person B 42. Person B manage to do more even though on both days the percentage of questions he completed is less than that of person B.

Hope this helps!
