It’s pretty easy to look up, just go on google and type in MLA Format. I guess you allready know the stuff she told you, so really the only thing she left out was the heading, not sure how it goes (and it changes sometimes) I believe its

your name

assignment

Teacher and Class

Date

in the top right corner. If it wasn’t a personal essay there would be more. If you can’t find it on google, then you should go ask your teacher what else there is.

Modern Language Association publishes a book called “MLA Handbook for Writer’s of Research Papers” which gives guidelines about how you should format citations, works cited page, and the rest of a research paper. (http://www.mla.org/style) As noted, they do not publish their documentation on the web. For the most comprehensive info, you should get the book (your local library probably has it). Some general guidelines are found here: http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/557/01/

You can find many websites that will help you prepare your bibliography page, citations, etc. Some of those include http://www.bedfordstmartins.com/online/citex.html and

http://www.easybib.com. If you have specific questions about any of this, we encourage you to contact your local public library. They may be able to provide chat reference or email reference assistance, in addition to the print resource. Good luck!

College bookstores will have dictionaries and grammar books specifically recommended by certain professors. MLA is one of those grammar books that tells you rules for capitalization, punctuation, bibliographies, footnotes, and references. When I went to college, I think it was a thin blue book, almost like a folder. Look for it in your local college bookstore. You will need it often.
