1. If a container has a pressure of 10 atm and the temperature goes from 300 Kelvin to 350 Kelvin, what is the new pressure?
2. If a balloon has a volume of 20 Liters and the pressure goes from 1 atm to 2 atm, what is the new volume

1. The equation that you have to work with is PV=nRT. However, since you have a change that you want to calculate, it will be PV/nRT=PV/nRT (the first being the original conditions, the second the final conditions). However, volume, moles, and R do not change in this case, so they can be ‘eliminated’. Thus, you have P/T=P/T.
10 atm/300 K=x atm/350 K.
x= 11.7 atm
2. This is the same type of thing as #1, except you get PV=PV.
(1 atm)(20 L) = (2 atm)(x L)
x= 10 L
