Can I use a semicolon in this sentence?
I was wondering if I should use a semicolon in this sentence or just keep a regular old comma: I, {my name}, was about to board Drop Zone, a ride that takes you and 49 other people up higher…etc. or could it be I, {my name}, was about to board Drop Zone; a ride that takes you and 49 other people up higher than…etc. Please help! I know using a semicolon will impress my teacher and I was wondering if it made sense to use one in that sentence. We haven’t learned all of the rules to them yet. Thanks!

You should use a comma in that sentence. A semi-colon is generally used to separate two sentences that are shoved together in one sentence.

And don’t use the pronoun you. You, the writer, should say “a ride that takes me and…” To switch to you means you are changing person and that is a TERRIBLE writing habit to develop.
