Can anyone tell me about Prose?

Scraping suitcases and laughter. Shall I go down?

I hear my name called, peer over the banister

And remember something I left in my bedroom.

What can it have been? The window is wide open.

The curtains move. The light sways. The cold sets in.

How would I turn that into Prose?

Help! x

Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/prose

To ‘convert’ it, paraphrase it, putting it in your own words, and without the rhyme and the same rhythm.

general rule of thumb – poetry is meant to recreate the sensations/emotions of a certain moment in time so others can experience those same emotions; prose is merely meant to be descriptive of what happened. think of it as the difference between firsthand information (poetry) vs. a retelling (prose).

if you need to render that chunk into prose, understand and envision what that stanza is presenting, and then write down what you see in your mind’s eye. you dont have to reinterpret every piece of information in that stanza – just what you feel is important to describe. hope that helps!
