This is a news article. I was a news editor for about 3 years in radio but all news item will begin with what is called a “lead”. It’s the same as a thesis statement: it sets you up for further details down the line. Also, it tells you most of the GENERAL who,what,when,how and why when it’s properly constructed.

In this case your lead is:

“A man who forced another to the edge of the Scarborough Bluffs and shot him four times over a drug deal gone bad has been sentenced to eight years in prison.”

If you look at that sentence, you’ll get most of your who,what,when,how, why answered and the questions you don’t get answered there will be in the supporting paragraphs.
