can any one translate this to me in a modern version line by line? thx?
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil that men do lives after them;
The good is oft interred with their bones;
So let it be with Caesar. The noble Brutus
Hath told you Caesar was ambitious:
If it were so, it was a grievous fault,
And grievously hath Caesar answer’d it.
Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest–
For Brutus is an honourable man;
So are they all, all honourable men–
Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
He hath brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill:
Did this in Caesar seem ambitious?
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept:
Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.
You all did see that on the Lupercal
I thrice presented him a kingly crown,
Which he did thrice refuse: was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And, sure, he is an honourable man.
I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love him once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then, to mourn for him?
O judgment! thou art fled to brutish beasts,
And men have lost their reason. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

Friends, Romans, country, listen to me,
I came to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
The evil, people do when they’re alive, is still remembered by others when they die;
But people often ignore the good things someone did;
So, let’s remember the good about Caesar. The noble Brutus
has told you that Caesar was ambitious:
If that was true, that was a sorrowful fault,
And sorrowfully has Caesar done it.
Here, while Brutus and the rest are gone–
Since Brutus is an honorable man;
And they are all honorable men–
I have come to speak at Caesar’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and fair to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honorable man.
He has brought many captives home to Rome
Whose ransoms, most boxes were filled with:
Did Caesar seem ambitious in this?
When the poor have cried, Caesar has cried with them:
Ambition should be something more serious:
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honorable man.
You all saw that at the cave,
I presented a kingly crown to him three times,
Which he refused all three times. Was this ambition?
Yet Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honorable man.
I did not have this speech to disprove what Brutus said,
I came here to tell you what I know.
You all loved him once, and not without cause to love him:
What reason do you have now though, to mourn for him?
Oh, have judgement! You have fled to cruel beasts,
And you have lost your reason to do that. Be patient with me;
My heart is with Caesar, in the coffin,
And I must wait until my heart comes back to me.
