Arithmatic Help?
At age 2, a cat or a dog is considered 24 “human” years old. Each year afterage 2 is equivalent to 4 “human” years. Fill in the expression [24+[](a-2)] so that it represents the age of a cat or dog in human years.
Please help explain, I don’t understand it completely.

Ok, after two years the dog/cat is 24 years old. Lets say the dog is 7 now. You have 24 human years for the first 2 that leaves 7-2 ( a-2, with a being the age) years times four ( you missed the times 4 in the equation. 24+4(7-2)=24+4(5)=24+20=44 You have to subtract 2 from the age because that’s the 24.
24+4(a-2) with a being the age the dog/cat is now and you come up with the current age.
