Another one of these line equations…?

Write the equation of a line that passes through the given point and is parallel to the line given. Write answer in slop intercept form. Point: (1,-5) Line: x= -3/4y+5

to be parallel, two lines must have the same slope, however, they must have different y-intercepts.

so the line must look like: y = -3/4x + something

however, you do know that it goes thru (1,-5) so plug this in

-5 = -(3/4)1 + value

now solve for value

-5 = -3/4 + value

add 3/4 to each side

-4.25 = value so equation is y = -3/4x -4.25
