Another maths question, Volume eep!?

Two identical solid spheres are packedd in the smallest box possible which is a cuboid shape.

Calculate the amount of unocupied spce left in the box given that the radius of the sphere is 20cm.

[Volume of a sphere : V=4/3(pie = 3.14)r^3

ok, we need to calculate the size of the spheres, and the size of the cuboid.

If the radius of the sphere is 20cm, the diameter would be 40cm. Two spheres side by side would form a length of 80cm, and a height and width of 40cm respectively.

The volume of the box would then be defined as:

80 * 40 * 40

128000 cubic cm

Volume of two spheres would be

2*(4/3*3.14*20^3)

66986.6667

128000 cu cm – 66986.667 cu cm = 61013.333… cu cm
