Another Geometry Question!!?

Your municipality is replacing the storage tanks in the community. In which plan is the total capacity greater?

Plan 1: Install one cylindrical tank that is 150 centimeters tall and has a radius of 50 centimeters.

OR

Plan 2: Install two cylindrical tanks that are 75 centimeters tall. One cylindrical tank has a radius of 30 cent. and the other tank has a radius of 25 cent.

Use 3.14 for pie and round your answers to the nearest tenth if necessary.

plan 1:1177500cubic cm (pi*r^2*h)

plan 2:147187.5+211950=359137.5

so clearly plan 1 has more capacity…

(3.14)(50)^2 (150) = 1,177,500 cm ^2

Plan 2

(3.14)(30)^2 (75) = 211,950cm ^2

(3.14)(25)^2 (75) = 147187.5cm ^2

211950+147187.5=359137.5 cm ^2

So the answer is plan 1

cm ^2 = centimeters squared
