The average of the four scores must be 70.

Let S4 = the last score, S1=1st score, S2=2nd score, S3 = the 3rd score, and A = the average score.

The formula for average is “the sum of all the scores devided by the number of scores”, or

(S1+S2+S3+S4)/4 = A

(67+ 74 + 63 +S4)/4 = 70

204+S4 = 70(4)

S4 = 280 – 204

S4 = 76

Therefore, the last test must have a score of at least 76, so that the average of the four tests is 70.

(67 + 74 + 63 + X) / 5 = 70

(70 * 5) – 67 – 74 – 63 = X

X >= All that junk up top that needs to be punched out.
