Since the highest degree of x is three (x^3), then you will have three answers, or solutions.

You need to move “x” to the left hand side making it into

9x^3 – x = 0,

a polynomial equation equal to zero. Factor out as many “x” ‘s as you can. Then you have

x ( 9 x^2 -1 ) = 0

This makes two equations,

x = 0, and 9 x^2 -1 = 0.

One solution is given as x=0. Now solve for the other two solutions.

9 x^2 -1 = 0

9 x^2 = 1

x ^ 2 = 1/9

Thus, x = +/- 1/3.

Your three solutions are x=0, x= -1/3, and x=1/3.

To avoid missing answers, factor it:

9x^3 – x = 0

x(9x^2 – 1) = 0

x(3x + 1)(3x – 1) = 0

x = 0, -1/3, 1/3
