The key here is to not be intimidated by the problem. Math can be a friend to you.

Solve the equation for y.

1. Get rid os the non-y, by subracting out x from both sides.

2xy=12-x

2. Divide both sides to get y alone on 1 side:

2xy/2x=(12-x)/2x

y=(12-x)/2x)

(Check my math, but I think that’s the answer, unless you need a number for y.)

3. If you need a number for y, then substitute the above (12-x)/2x into the original equation for y, because it’s equal to y.

4. Then solve the equation for x.

5. Once you have a number for x, then substitute it into the original equation, and find y.

Most of all, be patient and learn. This will all get easier over time. The math gets easier in later years, and with math you have many more options.

it is not possible to have a definite value for y because you have two variables and you’re working on one equation only. you must have a system if you want to have value for y. Anyway, you can solve y in terms of x.

use addition property of equality and multiplication property of equality to simplify the equation:

2xy + x = 12

2xy = 12 – x

y = (12 – x ) / 2x

you could no longer clean up an equation of two variables once you in basic terms have one equation to clean up from. y = (12-x)/2x you could desire to appreciate what x is so as to clean up for y. Y would be something reckoning on the fee of x.

solve for x or y?

x:

2xy+x=12

x(2y+1)=12

x=12/(2y+1) or x=(6/y)+12

y:

2xy+x=12

2xy=12-x

y=(12-x)/2x or y=(6/x)-(1/2)

2xy+x=12

2xy=12-x

y=12/2x-x/2x

y=6x-1/2

y.2xy+x=12?

2y2x+x=12

x(2y2+1)=12

x=12/2y2+1————————–(1)

{2y2= 2 y square}

2y2x+x=12,

2y2x=12-x,

y2=12-x/2x—————————-(2)

put value of y2 in (1)

x=12/2y2+1

x=12/2(12-x/2x)+1{2 cancel}

x=12/(12-x/x +1){lcm in denominater}

x=12/(12/x){-x+x cancels}

[x=1]———————————-ans

y2=12-1/2,

[y2=11/2]——————————–ans

or[2y2=11]

check,

from equation,

2y2x+x=12

L.H.S,

11(1)+1=12=R.H.S

HENCE THE VALUES AR SATISFIED………………..
