alright, so there are four consecutive integers

the least will be x

1) x

2) x+1

3) x+2

4) x+3

now plug into problem:

3x – (x+3) = x+1

solve for x:

3x-x-3 = x+1

x=4

x+1= 5

x+2= 6

x+3= 7

Ok,

you take 4 integers eg. 1,2,3,4

3 times the least of these eg. 3*1 = 3

Then take the 3*1 away from the biggest integer which is 4.

4 – 3 = 1.

1 dosn’t equal the integer next to the least integer which is 2.

Try this method for your self.

HINT.

The least integer is less than 10

the integers are 7, 6, 5, 4

4 * 3 = 12 – 7 = 5
