Each roll is independent, and each roll is 1 out of 6 chances. Getting three in a row means multipling those chances together:

(1/6)(1/6)(1/6)=

1/216

The die has no memory. Each time it is tossed there is a 1 in 6 chance of getting a 1. This goes for every throw so three in a row is 1 to 6 for each throw.
