Let w be the width

so we can say that since its length is 5m more than twice its width… then length=2w+5

the formula for the perimeter is 2w+2l, so

2w+2l=106

2(w)+2(2w+5)=106 ===> divide the whole equation by 2 and we get

w+2w+5=53

3w+5=53

3w=48

w=16

so the length would be 2(16)+5 or 37

length=37

width=16

Let the width be x m. so the length will be 2x+5 m, so

x+x+2x+5+2x+5 = 106, so

6x+10 = 106, so

6x = 96, so

x = 16.

The width of the rectangle is 16m. an the length is 37m.

Hope this helps, Twiggy.
