You are close. Should be -7X^2Y + 4Y^3

explanation:

group the equation from

x^2y – y^3 – 8x^2y + 5y^3

to

(X^2y – 8x^2y) + (5y^3 – y^3)

is equal with:

(1 X^2y – 8x^2y) + (5y^3 – 1 y^3)

Add X^2y together & y^3 together. Becomes below

X^2y (1-8) + y^3 (5-1)

-7 X^2y + 4y^3

Hope it is understandable

The answer is actually -7x^2y + 4y^3.

This is because you have 1 x^2y term and then take away 8 of them, leaving you with -7x^2y. Then, you have 5y^3 terms and take away one, leaving you with 4y^3.

If I am looking at it correctly I think that it should be a -7.

if you have x^2y and a -8x^2y that is like

1-8 which would be -7

you just combine like terms…

it should be

-7x^2y+4y^3
