When they both have the same square root number you just add up the numbers infront of it

4+3 = 7

7√2 is the answer

If you need an actual number, it would be approximately 9.898

To do this you can just imagine the the √2’s are actually x’s. Therefore you have

4x + 3x = ?

Now since 4 and 3 both have a common factor of x, you can add the two coefficients together. Therefore

4 + 3 = 7

or

4x +3x = 7x

Now replace x with √2 (This is what we did ealier, but now it’s reversed). In that case we have:

7x = 7√2

This is probably what they are looking for as far as an answer is concerned. The approximation is 9.8994. Texbooks tend to leave as 7√2 because it is a more acurate figure.

There is a universal lesson here and it is this:the outside number multiplies the inside number. You are free to multiply 4 times the square root of 2 and add that to 3 times the root of 2.

The answer is 9.899

it’s simple. when they both have the same square root number you just add up the numbers infront of it. so 4+3=7. You have a total of 7.

so you’re answer is 7√2

The sqrt of 2 is a common factor, so it becomes 7*sqrt2 [(4+3)*sqrt2]. If you need an actual number, it would be approximately 7*1.414, or 9.898.

there is no square root of two. i think that’s what that sign is anyways. but to simplify it, you would just at the 4 and the 3, because that’s how you simplify, because they are like numbers. your final outcome would be

7 times the square root of two.
