3 times 2 + 16 divided by 4 – 3?
This has to do with order of operations.
Favorite Answer
6+16/4-3
6+4-3
10-3
7
Thus, {(3*2) + 16} / (4-3)
{6 + 16} / 1
22/1 = 22
It is either: (3)(2) + 16/ (4-3)
6 + 16/1
6 + 16 = 22
Or…
[(3)(2) + 16]/(4-3)
[6 + 16]/1
= 22
Both have the same result!
Or…
[(3)(2) + 16/4] -3
[6 + 4] – 3
10 – 3
= 7
You have to be careful when you use words to describe an operation! The terms can be associated in numerous ways and not exactly the one you need!
Goodluck!
3*2 which is 6
then 16/4 which is 4
so far, it’s 6 + 4 – 3
6+4=10
10-3=7
Second, do divided, so 16 / 4
then do the + and – last.
You should get (3*2)+(16/4)-3
Do the stuff in ( ) first and you should get the right answer.
The rule is do multiplication and division first (whichever one is first). Then do addition and subtraction second.
