expand: 2x + 4x – 32 = 6x + 36. x terms are eliminated, and this equation as stated has no solution.

(Remember the oders of operation)

2x + 4(x – 8) = 3(2x + 12)

multiply paranthesis: 2x + 4x – 32 = 6x + 36

combine terms: 6x – 32 = 6x + 36

now to get “x” on only one side, subtract the x term from one side: 6x – 6x = 0, so the equation becomes: 0 – 32 = 36

there is no answer, and that means it is a false equation.
