2 step equations???

Ok i know how to the ones like this…

6c+1=7

6c-1 =7-1

c/6 = 6/6

c = 1

I just dont get the ones like…

-x+7=21……I dont understand what to do with the negative number…would it be……

-x+7=21

-x-7= 21-7

-x*1x= 14*1x—-I mess up here

x= 14???

So at the third step you have

-x = 14

The negative in front of the x actually represents -1, so divide both sides by -1

-x/-1 = 14/-1

x = -14

-7 -7

-x=14

-x means -1 so you divide by -1 and get -14
