thinking to start home schooling help??

1) Yourself: Going at your own pace is your stated reason. So, I would want to know is that different from the pace of the “regular” classes….and if different, is it faster or slower. If it is different, (you will need to have proof of this to help convince the authorities) be sure the school systems doesn’t already accommodate it with special classes. Once you establish the need for your own pace, it will be very useful to set some benchmarks…goals…so they can be assured you are making progress and not falling farther behind.
2) The State or School standards: You need to define an education plan that will show your home study will provide you with an education that is on par with the “standard” plan for the State or School. And then be sure to be able to demonstrate an adequate mastery of the subject matter so they can see you have indeed made academic progress while studying at home.
3) Future schools (if you intended to pursue studies beyond High School) that you might want to attend. Research their views of home schooled students….what documentation they require for entrance to the college….and make sure your home school education plan will meet their requirements so you can continue on in your education.
I think if you organize these items when you go in for the interview, they should be inclined to give your request serious consideration. However, you should also be prepared, that if you don’t meet the benchmarks you set for yourself, they will have serious cause to deny future home schooling request to send to them.
