(-3) + (-6) = -9

You add the absolute values of the numbers (ignore the minus sign) to get the answer. If both numbers have a negative, then you have a negative answer.

For multiplication/division:

a negative x a negative = positive

negative x positive = negative

its negative 9 because if you already have lost 3, you can’t get more, you can only get less. so it goes 3+6=9 and just add a -sign. I’m a 6 grader so i hope that helped…

(-3)+(-6)=(-9)

It is negative nine because it’s a negative plus a negative.

from a retired teacher (they way I taught my students).

If the signs are the same

ADD THE TWO NUMBERS TOGETHER AND KEEP THE SIGN OF THOSE TWO NUMBERS (BE IT POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE).

If the signs are different:

SUBTRACT THE SMALLER NUMBER FROM THE LARGER NUMBER AND KEEP THE SIGN OF THE LARGER NUMBER

THAT’S ALL THERE IS TO IT!!!!

In your example, the signs are the same, add the numbers together to get 9 and then keep this sign (negative) to get the answer of -9

negative nine. If the signs are same, add. If they’re different, subtract.
