My GPA is 2.8 to 3.1, I’m the editor of the sports section of my high schools newspaper, where can i go?

I would also like to add that I take a basic Science and Math class and I also take learning stratagies. I go to a very tough school system. I REALLY want to go to Emerson and I would like to maybe even apply for an Ivy League school.

In order to get into a competitive college you need a competitive gpa, as well has a rigorous class schedule. Your gpa is pretty average and the fact that you take basic science and math classes is a definite minus. Apply to a state college

The ivy league isn’t an option with your gpa–even the 3.1. However, if you were to bump up your gpa to a consistant 3.0 or higher, you’d make the minimum requirements for most quality private schools. You would get a similar education to an ivy league school, more attention, the same small classes, and a smaller price tag (because again, with that gpa, you’re not getting many scholarships to ivy league schools). Finding the right school is all about finding one that fits you. Please don’t be too narrowly focused.

I would suggest you look into small liberal arts schools near you with a good journalism program. The additional benefit to these schools is that you have a greater likelihood of being able to participate in their college newspaper program, which seems important to you. Good luck. I’m sure you’ll find a good fit for you.

Most universities will require you to have a 3.0 or higher and you’re one step from there…but Ivy League is something else, those are really demanding. There’s nothing impossible though…

You should also be getting into SAT or ACT testing, you know every college requires that, you should check in www.collegeboard.com what score and GPA requirements does Emerson have or whatever college you want. I strongly recommend that you take the ACT rather than SAT, because it’s way easier and it’s considered in the same level by colleges. Plus, it’s cheaper, I dont understand people who actually waste time with the SAT.

You have good extracurricular involvement and that’s perfect, keep going with your grades and take the ACT, and you’ll get wherever you want, for Ivy League, well, it’s not that simple, but you could try indeed.

Ivy League is probably not going to happen with that GPA, unless you are a heavy duty legacy, or you have outstanding SAT/ACT scores. The fact that you are involved in other things and are more well-rounded than the average bookworm is good, and colleges appreciate that. Ivy league is not all it’s cracked up to be, trust me!

what school do you go to?

I go to an exam school and I know is really hard to keep up with good grades. If you like journalism and you have a 3.1 GPA and you have a good SAT score I think you’re good to go. With a 2.8 is too average.
