I am concerned that you would consider combining your Private Education Loans with your Federal Education Loans.

I would also advise against consolidating your Federal Student Loans with your Private Student Loans because you lose all your Federal Benefits on your Federal Student Loans if you do consolidate the two types of loans together.

Some companies will allow you to combine your Private Loans with your Federal Loans. Unfortunately you are unable to consolidate your Federal Student Loans with your Private Student Loans through the FFELP Consolidation Program.

Hope this helps you out! For more information on Federal vs. Private Student Loan Consolidation as well as what your federal benefits are please visit the source below.

There are actually three things you can do.

You can consolidate the federal student loans together into one loan, you maintain all the benefits of a federal student loan.

You can consolidate all of your private student loans into a new private student loan.

So, now you have only two payments to make each month, generally at a lower monthly payment.

However, if you have to consolidate the federal and private loans into one new loan, due to trouble making the payments. You’d end up with a new private student loan. You would lose any tax benefits you get from having a federal student loan.

The best thing to do is actually talk with some one about each of your options and have them explain the pros and cons and then decide which is best for you.

I’d recommend applying at a couple companies to compare programs and advice. Chase Bank has a federal student loan consolidation program you can apply online anytime through http://www.usadegrees.com/consolidate/ and you can also apply online to Student Loan Advisors at http://www.StudentLoanAdvisors.com

I’m not sure if Chase offers a private and federal consolidation loan, but am pretty sure Student Loan Advisors has the option, you simply submit the federal request form and when they call you to review it ask them to add the privaet loans into it.

Good luck with your decision.

As long as they are all Stafford type loans you can. You can not, however, consolidate a non Stafford loan into a Stafford loan program. You would be able to consolidate them all into a private loan, but you would then loose all the special rules you get with a Stafford loan.
