Looking to Study in the USA from Ireland?

I’m currently in first year of a course and would like to transfer or start a new course in the USA. Is it difficult to transfer? Would I be eligable for financial aid? Is there a lot of “red tape” and special applicantion forms to fill? How do I go about applying? Do I have to apply directly to the colleges?

1) You would not be eligible for financial aid

2) Transfer – no, however some of your credits may count with may allow you to CLEP certain courses – but this is no guarantee – check with the univeristy.

3) You would apply directly to the university – visit the website of your chosen institution for the requires of an international student.

Check to see if your university has an ISEP (international student exchange program). They will be able to give you a lot of information about studying abroad. Usually, you can either apply through a program like ISEP or directly to the US institution. I know that in the USA, you can either go direct (directly through the institution) or exchange (you and a student exchange spots). With direct, you have to pay the college directly and most federal aid applies (not sure if this is true for students from other countries). With exchange, you pay exactly what you would normally pay your home institution. Some scholarships don’t transfer, but most do. You can visit the ISEP website for more info. This is the main exchange program that I am familiar with, but I am sure there are others out there as well. Good luck!

Tarleton State University is a good school for international students due to the fact that it is reasonably priced and that it is located in the heart of Texas. Check it out! WE are the real Cowboy U!

Check http://www.summerdiscovery.com . I went to Spain for a month, earned 3 college credits, and it was amazing! They have tours in America, too.
