When you’re 25 is when you’re parents are finally able to be taken off your FAFSA. Unless you are married, or you declared yourself as emancipated.

Its a big pain in the butt because I had to go through the exact same thing, but there is no way to state that your parents aren’t helping you on your FAFSA until then.

Your family income, unfortunately is considered by fafsa. You may be able to put in income from a single source if your parents are divorced, but you do have to include at least one parents income on the form. It doesn’t seem fair and it probably isn’t, but the Department of Education determines your need by first detrmining how much your family should contribute towards your education. I think this stands until you are about 24 or 25.

Unless you are independent or are a graduate student or over 25 you still have to have them fill out that portion on the FAFSA. You are still considered a dependent until you are considered independent by having a child, getting married, or being over 25. There is no way around it unless your parents or dead or you are entering grad school, sorry

it doesnt matter, you are less than 24 yrs old so your parents income will be taken into consideration whether they help you or not. if they are now divorced, you only need submit the info for one of them
