Very good question, which I don’t know the answer to. I would call the Dept of Education directly. If they aren’t US citizens, you might want to ask them what to put where it asks for their social security numbers as well.

You will need to contact FAFSA about how to fill the form out. Jenni is incorrect. Whether your parents claim you or not on their tax returns has no bearing whatsoever on the FAFSA. The FAFSA has a completely different way of considering whether or not someone is an independent student. My guess is that you will need to include your parents’ income unless you are at least 24 years old, married, or have a child where you provide more than half the support.

Did your parents claim you on last year’s tax return? If not, it will not matter, as you will submit your own tax return for the financial portion of the FAFSA.
