Normally, you DO need to tell the university exactly which aid you’re accepting. They’ll send you a Financial Aid Notification letter (separate from the initial fafsa letter setting out your expected family contribution). If you have any questions, you need to talk to a financial aid officer at your school. There are circumstances in which students would turn down grants, believe it or not (say, if they got a scholarship that’s bigger than the grant and makes it impossible for them to have both). So you need to accept your awards.

The grant is automatically accepted. Your tuition will be deducted from your first payment and if there is any remaining money you’ll get it sent to you in the mail.
