Most of the student loans are interest free as long as you are studying. So i would suggest taking as much as needed. You know that after 2 yrs when you are done with your med assistant course, you’ll be making a good amount of money. So than not only you can take all the previous loans off of you but also make better living conditions for your kids. Plus look into FAFSA. If you are a single mother with 2 children, who are dependent on you, i think you could also get some grants(free money).

If you can afford to pay the interest on your loans while you’re still going to school, do it.

in 1996 I owed $24,000 in student loans and I kept going to school so that I could defer them instead of making payments (I was going to a cheaper school and getting grants so I didn’t increase my borrowed amount) when I finally started paying them off around 2003 they accrued about $6,000 in interest.

You don’t owe as much as I did, and you wont be putting it off for as long as me, so you shouldn’t suffer too much from it. besides there are a lot of openings in the medical field and it should be easy for you to pay them off.

Besides looking to loans and grants you should also sign up for those grocery rewards programs that give you education dollars when you shop.
