How’s college life working out for you?

I’m just a mom who has sent off her oldest son to a college 6 hours away and am interested how things are going for the college freshmen out there. As fun as you thought? Things you miss? Things you would be grateful to recieve in the mail from home? I am just hoping my son is adjusting without going straight to him, he knows I worry all the time. And by the way, neither my husband or I went to college, so we don’t know what he is experiencing. Thank you for responding.

I went to college 2 hours from home and was still thrown for a loop with some things. It is a lot of freedom and responsibility, so it’s a little overwhelming. Give him a while to adjust, though – I’m sure he’ll be fine once he figures out the ropes.

The best way to describe college, if he’s living on campus, is like an extended summer camp or conference.

Mail from home always made me feel missed, which was good. My sisters occasionally did goodie bags – snacks, toenail polish, a frisbee, whatever was cheap and around.
