How do i find scholarships?

I am a white middle class female, from a white middle class family. Both my parents only finished high shool. I am currently a college student, and I am going on to the 4 yr University level here soon and need to find a way to get scholarships. I have done the FASFA but they only want to offer me loans, they say my dad makes to much. My father is the only source of income for my parents and brother. I will be a dependent of my father till i am 25 or married or have a child and i dont believe any of those things will be happening soon enough. I currently work for the county government, but have no college help. If some one could help put me on the right track to getting scholarships that would be greatly appreciated.

first – once you pay taxxes on your own and claim yourself and are not claimed by him – you can declare on your fasfa that youa re not a dependant of his –

2nd call the school’s financl aide office and ask them if they can point you anywhere

3rd call the office that handles students with disabilities – ask if they pay students as note takers my school pays $150 per course – you get the money at the end of the semester – basically you just take good notes in all your classes and turn them in at the end of each class to thier office – they photcopy them for the student in need and you get paid at the end of the year (as long as you do it)

4th contact the office of your major they may have oganiations you can apply to – you may also be able to get grants/fellowships for extra work – like doing research and giving a presentation they give money to cover the research costs which can come in handy – especially if the research also correlates with another class you are or will be taking..

ahh…the perks of being white and middle class…

Sadly, you are not the only one. I can’t qualify for crap and I’m an independent AND at a private university.

www.fastweb.com

try there.
