In the U.S. it does not make sense to get a PhD without funding or a fellowship as one would be spending thousands of dollars over a 5 to 7 year time frame. Don’t pursue a doctorate without funding, you will never make back the money if you had to pay for it! Apply to a university’s doctorate program. If you are accepted, they should provide you with funding. If not don’t go.

Isn’t a doctorate a bit beyond the Scholarship stage. Shouldn’t you be seeking grants instead? just curious.
