Yes, you can get financial aid at a community college. I got my schooling paid for and I’m going to a community college. You are going to be considered a dependent student and you STILL need to get your parent’s income information for your FAFSA. I know from experience.

Yes, you can get financial aid to go to a community college. sometimes even going part time.

Regarding dependent and independent status. This is not determined by where you live or who puts who on what tax forms.

Are you over 24, married, have kids you support, orphan, veteran, have a bachelors degree, were you a ward of the court? If yes to any of these, then you are classified as “Independent” and don’t need to include your parents income. If none of these apply to you, then you will need to include your parents income. Remember It does not matter where you live or who claims who on what tax forms or if you are self supporting or not.

You should NOT put your aunts information on your fafsa, even if you live with her. I’m attaching a good Department of Education Publication regarding Financial aid.

If you are under the age of 24 and have not yet declared yourself independent you will still be considered a Dependant even if you are not living with your parents.

As for getting Fin Aid at a Community College you can get Fin Aid as long as you are attending at least 6 credit hours (or whatever your school considers half time). Your aunt wouldnt go on your FAFSA
