You can still get them you do not have to be in a dorm at all. You just have to show that you are in financial need for money to go to college on and that you meet their requirements. That means you can’t make a lot of money I mean like 40 thousand a year maybe to much but like 20 would be fine. I say apply to any and all. Just make sure you do it early the sooner you can apply the better your chances are of getting help. Some people wait to long and are not able to get any because there is none left to give. So I would read over all the information about the ones you are applying for and go from there. Good luck!! =)

You can with grants if you’re using any leftovers from your tuition payments. I knew a girl who received the maximum in grants each year, but because she went to a community college she had a lot of money left over which she used to help pay for her apartment’s rent. So it doesn’t matter being in a dorm or not.

With student loans, I believe that after you receive the check you can use them for whatever you want if you’d like. Of course it helps to use it first for school, but essentially it’s a loan, and a loan’s money can be used for anything.

Of the two grants are definitely cheaper since you don’t have to pay those back. Subsidized loans are the second cheapest since you only pay interest on them during a portion of the term. And unsubsidized loans would be the most expensive since you pay interest throughout the entire life of the loan.

I am pretty sure that you can take out some extra money for off-campus-housing rent… thats actually what I am going to be counting on actually for this upcoming spring.

I don’t really know about the legistics of loan companies and if some of them ONLY deal with on campus expenses but I’m pretty sure it’s not hard to figure out. In most places it is cheaper, especially if you have a roomate or two.

What’s most important is where you are most comfortable living.

Yes I got a Pell Grant and I was living with my parents going to a community college (no dorms available!)

Wait, do you mean help paying for your apartment or paying for school? When I reread your question I got confused! They will help with tuition and books but I doubt private housing.

Students who are looking for a bad credit student loan should pick three schools they are most interested in, talk to the admissions office, and ask what is needed to apply in their school.A bad creditdepending on whether you are a homeowner or not. The rate of interest to be paid on unsecured bad credit student loans is higher than that on secured bad credit student loans. This is because the secured bad credit student loans are backed by your home as a security.
